When the Alan James firm first formed in 1988 it took care of its own IT requirements. Eventually it hired an external one-man IT support service. But as the company grew it found it needed much faster response times. “One of the partners in the business was spending too much time keeping the IT system running, which meant less time actually doing his job,” explains founding Partner Alan James. “It soon became apparent that we needed a more comprehensive level of support”.
The main “pain area”, according to Alan, was the lead-time between reporting an issue and getting it solved. In terms of the new server that we need we were really impressed that Ziptech gave us four-to-five months’ advance notice that this would be required. It just gives us time to plan and get organised”.
