Isabella Oliver had reached the limits of their internal email system and it was well overdue an upgrade. With an older version of Exchange running they were battling against the amount of space available and capacity issues. It was time to consider upgrading to either an on-premise solution or go with one of the hosted solutions.
“I favoured a hosted solution”, says Isabella Oliver’s Head of Technology, Dan Coleman, “my preference being Office 365. It’s a familiar interface, users are generally used to seeing it and this greatly aids user adoption and makes the transition time faster post-migration.”
The migration took place over two consecutive weekends – the first used for preparation and the second to carry out the actual migration. During the whole process channels of communication were kept open so that everyone knew what to expect and by when.
As with all IT projects there were challenges involved – but because there was a proper project ‘wash-up’ the whole team got to share their experiences and document the lessons learnt.
