“Yes” seems to be the resounding answer. British-based businesses, large and small, are listed in breach of GDPR on the ICO’s (the UK watchdog) website, not to mention the fines implemented by regulators in other countries.
Google has been fined €50m (£44m) by the French data regulator CNIL for a breach of the EU’s data protection rules. The regulator said it judged that people were “not sufficiently informed” about how Google collected data to personalise advertising.
Amazon, Apple, Google, Netflix and Spotify also face GDPR complaints.
