“Since Ziptech has come on board, our IT is much more stable and we have more confidence in our system. We are a growing company and we benefit from Ziptech’s strategic advice and constant review to ensure our IT continues to serve our changing needs.”

When international development consultants IMC Worldwide thought it was time to review the way in which the company’s IT was resourced, they came to Ziptech Services with the challenge of providing a proactive IT management service which would meet the evolving needs of the fast-emerging enterprise.

Having met previously at one of Ziptech’s Directors Briefing sessions – a learning programme run by Ziptech to help Directors understand the evolving IT landscape – IMC’s Managing Director got in touch with Ziptech to embark on a Discovery Project, an on-boarding initiative which would allow Ziptech to take a look under the hood at the existing infrastructure and understand current business requirements.  Recommendations were made for areas which required immediate attention as well as opportunities to further optimise the company’s IT at various stages in the medium and longer term.

IMC Worldwide’s Finance Director Steve Monger said,

“We needed to fix one immediate problem but we also took some good advice from Ziptech about other improvements we could make.”  He added, “With staff in all corners of the developing world, accessibility and reliability are key items on my agenda and I was pleased that Ziptech also focused heavily on those areas.  With their advice, we were able to build a very realistic and practical improvement plan for the first year.”

IMC Worldwide’s development projects are often government-funded.  Having Cyber Essentials Certification is a major benefit although the process of gaining certification wasn’t just about pleasing those in power.

Steve said,

“Having attended Ziptech’s Directors Briefing on Cyber Security, the main thing I took away was an understanding of the Government’s 10 Step Plan for cyber security.  We began implementing the recommendations immediately.”

As a qualified Cyber Essentials Practitioner, Ziptech is able to lead IMC through the process of Cyber Essentials Accreditation and is assisting IMC to achieve this.

With a focus on delivering proactive and preventative IT services, Ziptech’s CEO Jim Simpson says,

“It is great to work with a business which appreciates the benefits of proactive IT management.  It is particularly important for IMC that the IT infrastructure is agile and flexible enough to meet their evolving needs.”

As part of the service package Ziptech provides to IMC, the directors of both businesses meet on a quarterly basis to evaluate the strategic direction and agree actions.  Monthly, Ziptech’s technician, dedicated to looking after IMC on a day-to-day basis, visits site to ensure that agreed outputs from the planning session are implemented and regular preventative actions are carried out.  This monthly meeting incudes a review of the ‘Bomb Report’ – a list of preventative actions which must be taken to avoid problems.

Summing up Steve said,

“Since Ziptech has come on board, our IT is much more stable and we have more confidence in our system.  We are a growing company and we benefit from Ziptech’s strategic advice and constant review to ensure our IT continues to serve our changing needs.”
